    2. New MK contact block

      New MK contact block

The Company GEORG SCHLEGEL received the renowned Focus Award in silver from the Design Center Baden-Württemberg for the new MK contact block. "We are very happy about this award. The award further proves that we at SCHLEGEL always think about good design, even for product developments that are not so conspicuous," says Christoph Schlegel. The award is also valuable because the Design Center Baden-Württemberg is an independent institution and has no commercial intentions. The design quality is an important characteristic for a design award – but it is certainly not the only one. The independent jurors also pay attention to the functionality, the level of innovation, ergonomics and utility. The MK also convinces in these categories: lower, smaller, more modular – these are the characteristics of the MK. With the MK we succeeded in developing an extremely compact and powerful contact block, having a straight-lined aesthetics. Thanks to the well thought-out structure, the MK has a mounting depth of only 17.6 mm. The distinct colourings of the NO, NC and LED module facilitate the handling. The contact blocks can be combined and mounted in the module holder as required. In the SCHLEGEL world, the MK is versatile and fits all SCHLEGEL pushbuttons and switches of all the ranges with a 22 mm housing neck.

    3. New NX series RFID safety switch with lock

New NX series RFID safety switch with lock

NX series RFID safety switch with lock is the world's smallest device in its category. > Maximum technology in the minimum volume Its dimensions of just 30x30x94.5 mm, and its volume of only 85 cm3 make the NX series safety switch, the smallest in the world in its category. > High safety standards guaranteed This switch offers all the well-established features of the Pizzato brand, such as the RFID technology installed in the actuator and the highest guaranteed safety levels PL e and SIL 3. > Metal head and technopolymer body The housing of this device is made of two different materials: the metal head ensures maximum impact and strength when the door is locked, and the technopolymer body ensures the lightweight and flexible construction of the device. > Fast diagnosis of operational state thanks to the RGB LEDs The illuminated cap positioned on the head of the device allows a quick diagnostic of inputs and outputs functional states. > Bistable operating principle This new operating method activates the internal solenoid by means of short electrical impulses that stabilise its position in either the unlocked or locked state. 5. New Product Roll-Out

      New Product Roll-Out

Ganter is expanding its portfolio with a completely new product family: a thoroughly designed selection of various casters and wheels. Ganter’s standard parts selection is growing once again – with the recent addition of an entirely new category for wheels and casters. The establishment of the new catalog group 3.10 is a clear indication that these mobility-enabling standard parts will have all the room they need. That is only logical given that the wheels and casters serve to complement their proven but static leveling feet relatives, which are available in many different versions. As always, Ganter is entirely focused on practical requirements: the individual types are organized according to the applicable ISO testing procedures, making it easy to associate them with the most important configuration parameters. For example, the new range includes light duty casters with low load capacity, medium duty casters for industrial use and heavy duty casters designed for high dynamic loads coupled with higher travel speeds. Casters are ready-to-install parts consisting of a wheel and a bracket, with the latter generally made of bent sheet steel, except for the heavy duty versions of welded steel. The bracket, available in swivel or fixed versions, holds the wheel and serves for mounting the caster. Fixed casters provide lateral guidance to ensure stable travel both straight and on curves. The swivel brackets with ball bearings enable maximum maneuverability with 360-degree rotation and movement in any direction, a property that is particularly advantageous in tight spaces. Optionally integrated total lock brakes prevent the wheel from turning or rotating in the steering axis, and variants are also available with extendable leveling feet for an even more secure stand. More information on Ganter standard parts can be found on the internet at ganternorm.com

    8. New safety light grids with Bluetooth interface

New safety light grids with Bluetooth interface

For the first time, Schmersal launched a safety light grid with a built-in Bluetooth interface. The SLC440/COM with Bluetooth BLE is an active optoelectronic protective device that makes all status and diagnostic data on the operating status of the device available on smartphones or tablets via a Bluetooth interface on a real-time basis. The Bluetooth interface also supports easy start-up using a smartphone or tablet with the integrated setup aid. There is also the excellent option of saving the data, which can then be used, for example, to document a repeat test or for predictive maintenance purposes. The transmission of data to smartphones / tablets (Android, IOS) is facilitated by an app developed by Schmersal. BLE stands for Bluetooth Low Energy, a radio system for near-field data transmission with secure transmission. This innovative technology for optoelectronic safety systems is unique with respect to the range over which the data can be communicated. This means the BLE interface is perfect when the opto-electronic safety system is in a relatively inaccessible position. Bluetooth BLE also offers a greater range of applications. As Bluetooth is an international industrial standard, the 440/COM range of light grids with Bluetooth BLE interface can be used all over the world. The SLC440/COM with Bluetooth BLE enable significantly improved efficiency in production processes. As the status data of the light grids can be accessed easily and in real-time, errors can be resolved more quickly to achieve increased machine availability. This status information and diagnostic data enables processes to be reactivated more quickly, particularly in the event of a system shutdown if a hazard is detected. It also represents a really economical innovation as, compared to classic Bluetooth, BLE is characterised by considerably lower energy consumption and reduced costs at a similarly high communication range.

    10. New version of GEMNIS Studio programming software

New version of GEMNIS Studio programming software

The software for programming the modules of the Gemnis series is available in the new Gemnis Studio version 12 which has a fully updated graphic layout and new programming functionality. With retractable side panels housing the sensors and function blocks, the field available for working in the programme is now larger and neater, with the option of choosing between light and dark display themes. The advanced menu groups the sensors according to electrical type so as to guide the programmer in choosing the correct sensor for the project. New function blocks with mathematical functions have been introduced which are very useful for applications with frequency inputs for speed control or with current inputs for analogue sensors. Another important new feature is the option of disabling the test pulses of the PNP safety outputs. The electronic safety outputs of the Gemnis modules are always protected and monitored for dangerous faults. In order to perform this monitoring, test impulses (i.e. very short switch-offs of the outputs) are created in the safety outputs while the outputs are active. These test impulses are generally undetectable on passive loads (contactors or similar); in rare cases, however, they can disturb the inputs of digital devices such as PLCs or electronic drives. With Gemnis Studio 12, it is possible to disable the test impulses of the PNP safety outputs in cases where the application requires it. Faults such as short-circuits to the external positive pole are still detectable when the outputs are switched off. The new Gemnis Studio 12 software is completely retro-compatible and capable of programming modules from previous generations equipped with Kernel 10 or 11. The new software incorporates a new remote support management system which allows you to receive help from Pizzato technical support directly from the Gemnis Studio software window with just a few clicks.

    11. New versions for NS series safety switches with solenoid and RFID technology

New versions for NS series safety switches with solenoid and RFID technology

The NS series safety switches with solenoid and RFID technology, now come with the new mode 3 for safety output activation. In the versions with mode 1 the OS safety outputs are active when the actuator is both inserted and locked, so that the actuator cannot be extracted with safety outputs activated. Mode 2 allows the actuator to be released while keeping the safety chain enabled. Mode 3 combines the functions of modes 1 and 2: a safety output is active when the actuator is both inserted and locked, while the second safety output is active when the actuator is only inserted. This allows two single-channel independent circuits to be combined in a single device and to emulate traditional electromechanical interlocking devices with guard locking, without complex machine wiring modifications. The management of the two channels also includes the inputs, so that multiple devices can be connected in series.
